THE "WHO-WHERE-WHAT" CHALLENGE
Tell us about Tradelossa. Who owns the company?
Tradelossa is a Mexican company with 48 years of experience, specialized in the transportation of Heavy Haul, oversized cargo, rigging, storage and other logistics services for projects both in México and the United States.
Tradelossa is owned by several active members of the Mexican private industry and today we have the largest fleet of hydraulic and specialized equipment in Mexico.
Where are your offices located?
Tradelossa has seven operating terminals in the cities of Altamira, Monterrey, Durango, Queretaro, Guanajuato, Nuevo Laredo, and Mexico City. We also have multiple control points across the country, with presence in some of the busiest ports in Mexico.
Looking forward to bringing better solutions to our customers, we have been expanding our service territory to the United States, serving states like Alabama, California, Georgia, Illinois, Indianapolis, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
What is Tradelossa's specialty and service range?
We are Heavy Haulers, Project Solution experts, and Logistics managers. It has always been our specialty to overcome the challenges that our clients bring with every new project. We have the largest and most flexible fleet in Mexico, and the range of services we offer goes from door-to-door operations, permitting, storage, supply chain, rigging, to forwarding and specialized project cargo.
Tell us about projects that you have handled recently.
Due to the consequences brought by the Covid-19 global pandemic, 2020 was a year full of challenges that needed to be addressed in a completely different way than we were used to.
One of our most interesting projects was "Empalme", a key project for Mexico's energy industry and where we hauled over 1,500 tons and traveled 23,000 miles across Mexico and the United States.
All the challenges that came with this project put our members' adaptability to the test, implementing all necessary measurements and improving all our processes that were needed for the project's successful outcome.
Are there any tricky points one should consider when planning a project cargo movement in Mexico? How would you describe the o/g permit issuance process in your country?
Nothing tricky, just have your shipping dimensions handy and it would be best to have technical drawings, when asking for a request. Make sure you have time prior to the move, this way we can review what is the best solution for your project.
Our permitting system in Mexico is simple, we handle 2 types of permits, over 90 tons sand under 90 tons. The permit under 90 tons takes 24-48 working hours to get and we can get this on the closest state permit office.
The permit over 90 MT takes 30-45 working days and is requested in Mexico City. Here we need a technical drawing so we can provide the vehicular configuration as well as route. Then they will analyze feasibility and return with their approval and recommendations for the move.
What is your advantage against the competition? Why do you stand out?
We are a company committed to quality and safety; this is where we stand out. We are CTPAT and ISO certified, and we comply with the strictest quality standards of some of our customers. Our high level of attention, our flexibility, our determination, and our experience are some of the aspects that distinguish us from the rest.
We understand and put our clients’ needs first, always looking to bring the best outcome for their projects, offering new and creative solutions.
What was the impact that COVID-19 brought to your business?
Well, as many of us know, COVID-19 brought project cancellations and delays across the world. We quickly understood that being efficient was just not enough, and if we wanted to overcome all these new challenges, we needed to stop doing things like we used to and instead do more. We reorganized ourselves in all working levels, we brought new and fresh working models and most of all, we adapted to our new reality.
